Creative Visualization & What It Can Do For You!
Secrets of Creative Visualization
From the desk of Anthony Buchalka
Thanks for joining me as we discuss the powerful process of creative visualization.
Just what is Creative Visualization?
Creative visualization is the ability to use the imagination, see images in our minds and make them come true.
My personal mentor, Bob Proctor, taught me that "we are what we think about" and this is where we can use creative visualization to achieve tremendous benefits in our lives.
If we add concentration and feelings, it can become a great creative power that makes things happen. Used in the right way, visualization can bring massive positive changes into our lives.
How does it work and why?
Well, thought is a power, and has it's effect on the material world we live in.
Thoughts, if powerful enough, travels from one mind to another. If we keep thinking the same thought, people in our environment perceive it and act on it, furthering, usually in an unconscious manner, the materialization of our desires.
If you are naturally positive, then the way you approach and handle situations is such that attracts and brings positive results. On the other hand, if you are fearful and negative, then you expect negative results, and behave, look, and talk accordingly. You attract negative results in other words.
Doesn't it all make sense? What we sow is what we reap.
Positive people tend to attract positive people and experiences into their lives while negative people tend to attract negative experience and people in to their lives.
I bet you have seen this happen with you friends or loved ones, at least to some degree?
With creative visualization, we are taking control of the thoughts that appear in our mind. We are consciously creating 'positive mental pictures' in our mind, pictures that if held on a regular basic will bring astounding positive results into our own lives.
It is one of the laws of the universe.
Creative visualization has many benefits.
It can help people stop smoking or help break other habits or even lose weight. It can bring about a sense of relaxation and lower stress in our lives, it can help us with our relationships, and it can assist us in reaching our goals and dreams in life.
In fact, there is virtually nothing that can't be created and achieved with creative visualization.
But not everyone knows how to carry out creative visualization because most of us haven't been taught how to understand how our minds work.
Visualization taps into our subconscious minds.
When we learn the secrets to creative visualization we have the tools we need to bring about change in our lives. Creative visualization can also help bring about healing, both emotionally and physically.
Creative visualization and meditation are linked. Some forms of meditation include visualization, but it doesn’t necessarily work in the reverse. Meditation is a valuable tool, but in order to expand the possibilities even further, learning how to visualize beyond that is a great step.
Here are some things you can do to help you learn the technique creative visualization.
Learn to relax. Just learning the secrets to creative visualization are not enough. If you don’t know how to relax, then you won’t get a lot out of the process.
A relaxed body leads to a relaxed mind. You need both in order to reach the state you need.
Sit or lie down in a quiet, dark place. It is best if you can learn to relax without music, though music can be a benefit especially if it is relaxing.
Focus on making your muscles feel heavy. Quiet your mind and still your eyelids.
Close your eyes and try not to fidget. Focus on one thing, such as your breathing, until you feel yourself relax.
There are many different methods for putting your body in a relaxed state and that is just one of them.
If you want to learn other techniques you can ask others, look in books and magazines, or search online. Your goal is to find the method that works best for you.
Learn to breathe. Learning to relax is just one step.
If you don’t know how to breathe to promote relaxation, you won’t get the most out of the relaxed state.
Slowly fill your lungs with air and breathe out slowly. Continue this for as long as you wish, but preferably throughout your creative imagery session. Air helps your brain focus and the rhythmic process prevents your mind from wandering.
All about focus. Creative visualization secrets are all about focus. If you can’t hold your attention on any one thing, you will not be able to focus on any imagery that will be beneficial to you. So, before you even attempt to focus on the imagery, focus on your breathing and the fact that you want to be in a relaxed state. Once you can do that with relative ease, you can move on to focusing on images.
Imagery beginnings. It may take some time to learn how to form images in your mind. One of the secrets of creative visualization is that you can’t expect overnight success.
Yes, there are some people out there who learn advanced techniques rather quickly, but most of us need to be given time to learn how to hold images.
One of the most common images to practice on is an orange. After you relax and focus on your breathing, picture a dark room.
Slowly picture an orange come to life. Hold the image as long as you can. As you get good at holding the image of the orange, you can start to do things such as shine a light on it and float it all around the room.
Involve your senses. One thing that will help you progress through the creative visualization process is that if you just focus on your sense of sight, you will not progress very quickly.
However, if you involve all the senses, you will be able to visualize better. In the orange exercise, picture how it tastes, smells, feels, looks, and even sounds. Do oranges make a sound as they move? It may take a while to get the hang of this, but once you learn how to visualize in all five senses, you can move on to more advanced activities.
Learning more. It may take you a while to master the techniques described above.
But sooner or later, you will want to use this process to help you achieve certain things. At this point, you should contact an expert or read a book on the subject to give you more information.
Learning how to do this often takes a lifelong commitment. But know that visualization and creative visualization can benefit your lives in positive ways.
Practice the techniques outlined above at least once a day and make sure you work as hard as you possibly can. Once you get the hang of it, you should be able to learn more advanced techniques rather quickly.
A Personal Experience of Mine With Creative Visualization.
In 1987 I took a holiday from University in Sydney Australia to visit Thailand.
Prior to this trip, I had been living with a fellow student, a mad Irishman with a long bushy red beard with quite a temper!
Anyway, this chap, Peter, had spent many months earlier traveling in South East Asia.
He shared many stories of how he had lived with several local families in different parts of South East Asia, including the mountains of Pakistan.
I began creating an image in my mind of myself traveling and doing a similar thing, meeting up with locals and being invited to live with them.
Fast forward about 8 months and off I went on my trip to Thailand.
After about 2 days in Thailand, I made it to far North East Thailand to a small ancient village called Chiang Saen, nestled on the banks of the Maekong river in the Golden Triangle.
I stayed at a Thai guest house that also had a fantastic restaurant.
Anyhow, long story short, the Thai family who owned the guest house asked me to stay and live with them and teach the family English.
I jumped at the chance and lived with them for a year and had an incredible experience.
I am convinced the opportunity arose because of two things.
1. Because I had an 'image' in my mind of finding this opportunity - it actually happened.
2. When the opportunity arose - I took it.
I hope you tot discover the power of creative visualization as it can be an incredibly life changing experience for you as well.
If you have had something you visualized that came true, please leave some comments below and share it with us.
All the best.
warmly,
Anthony Buchalka
